Prolonged Exposure

Prolonged Exposure (PE) is an evidence-based treatment focused on helping people emotionally process traumatic events, reduce fear and anxiety, and develop an enhanced sense of safety.

Research shows that it works very well to reduce symptoms of PTSD, and that it also works well in tandem with other therapies like DBT. It involves weekly sessions that you record on your phone or other recording device and between-session tasks that you decide on together with your therapist.

On average, PE takes about 13 weeks although it can be longer or shorter depending on individual need.  Your therapist will discuss length of treatment with you at the time of treatment planning.
